Abstract of Dr. Bang's Invited Talk

Metaverse is a simulated environment in which human users can interact with computer-generated objects and other users. In Metaverse, users create social, cultural, and economic values with connecting the virtual and real worlds. Metaverse will lead the evolution of platforms in the direction of increasing productivity in terms of time and space. The Metaverse service platform is implemented by connecting and combining various platform technologies, such as extended reality (XR), artificial intelligence (AI), blockchain, and so on. Interoperability in the Metaverse service platform is one of important issues in order to allow various technologies to be freely combined. This is important for fostering the Metaverse industry ecosystem. For a Metaverse service, the technology to efficiently create virtual spaces and avatars is fundamental. Advances in interaction technology help to express diversity and creativity in virtual space. AI technology will help increase user access to the Metaverse and maximize value production. Recently, interest in metaverse ethics has increased internationally. Unlike the existing service system in the real world, research on the ethical system in a virtual space with an economic system is essential. In this talk, with reviewing the technologies for the Metaverse, issues that need to be discussed for the realization of the platform will be introduced.
